Photo: Sea Cadets tour Tempe campus to get feel for engineering

Neil O'Leary, a prototype machinist, shows cadets with the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps the basic functions of a lathe in the Student Machine Shop, located in the basement of the Bateman Science Building F wing on August 20, 2016. The cadets were welcomed by Alicia and Jennifer Flores, Navy veterans and former cadets themselves, both enrolled in the Fulton Schools in the aerospace and electrical engineering programs, respectively. The cadets visited the Tempe campus to learn about educational and career pathways in engineering as well as tour different labs and facilities used by engineering students and faculty. The USNSCC is a federally-chartered nonprofit development program that educates young people about the benefits of serving in the armed forces, particularly the G.I. Bill. Even the cadets who do not serve still benefit from the discipline and values gained in the program. Photographer: Pete Zrioka
